Lord Krishan was born in Dwapara yuga on Ashtami Tithi
of Bhadrapada month, so this date has special significance in Hinduism.
On this day people who follow Hinduism celebrate fast, workship, and
celebration. This year, Janmashtami and Krishan Janmotsava will fast on 23
and 24 August.
This year there is a confusion about the date
of Janmashtami. Ashtami Tithi is starting from 8:9am on the 23rd of the
morning, which ends at 8:32am on 24 of Saturday. Rohini Nakshatra starts on
24th morning at 3:48am. In such a situation, according to the rules of the
scriptures, householders should fast on Saptami Vyapini Ashtami Tithi, which is
on 23 August. For Vaishnavites and sages, it will be appropriate to observe the
fast on 24th August. Householders should open the fast from 8:32am on
24th August.
Janmashtami is
celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. Lord Vishnu, the
creator of the universe was born on this day as his eight avatars, Shri Krishna.
The festival is celebrated in different ways in different parts of the country.
The most famous and popular Janmashtami is the birthplace of Lord Krishna to
Mathura and Vrindavan. On this day all the people observe fast and the temples
and houses are decorated.
